Hey thanks for visiting my blog. Often times when I am preparing a sermon an idea comes to me that I want to unpack a little more. Hopefully, this blog will allow me the place to do that. Then again, maybe I’ll just talk about my kids. I’ll try to update it once a month..
In the beginning of Matthew Chapter 8 Jesus has just finished a killer sermon about the Kingdom of God. This can be summed up as the greatest sermon ever given. At least until we got smart and started using PowerPoint and YouTube videos. So here’s the thing. After I preach a sermon I usually take a nap. I am what pastors refer to as a preaching “light weight.” I mean, seriously, we only have one service. How difficult can preaching one sermon be? What is the first thing Jesus does? A red carpet grand opening of “The Kingdom?”. A book signing tour? Sabbatical? No, the first thing He does is actually live what He just taught. To the letter. Large crowds began following Him and He healed three of the most dishonored segments of Jewish society at that time; a leper, a Samaritan and a woman. It’s as though Jesus was saying, “You think I teach with authority? Wait till you see how I live!” Oh to be like Jesus in this area, not only living what we teach but living it with authority. With total abandon. This week we are going to talk about how Jesus modeled what a life in the Kingdom really looks like on a day to day basis.
