Hey thanks for visiting my blog. Often times when I am preparing a sermon an idea comes to me that I want to unpack a little more. Hopefully, this blog will allow me the place to do that. Then again, maybe I’ll just talk about my kids. I’ll try to update it once a month..
What is your view of Jesus? We have been talking a lot about Jesus and how knowing Him is a relationship not a religion. I often like to think of Jesus as my friend. He's my best buddy, my old chum...just me and Jesus in line at Starbucks. Then the storm hits. When that happens I want God. I want power and authority. I don't want Him just hanging with me, I want Him in control. Can we have both? When the disciples get in the boat to take Jesus away from the crowds they are only doing what they were told to do. All of a sudden they are in a fight for their very lives. Aren’t we supposed to be safe when we are in the will of God. I mean isn’t the “safest place to be is in God’s will?” I guess it depends on which kingdom you want. God’s will can be a bummer if we focus on this world. Most of the earliest followers of Jesus were killed for their faith. That doesn’t sound very safe. Jesus asked the disciples “Where is your faith?” That is a great question for all of us. You don’t know something is lost until you need it. In God’s Kingdom He constantly wants us to have our faith ready at any time. Sometimes the only way we know we don’t have it is when He asks us to show it. That’s one of the purposes of a storm. This week we will be covering 6 purposes for the storms in our lives. Maybe 7, 5 guaranteed. I’m not finished yet. We will also be learning a great new worship song about our hope in Jesus. Here are some of the words to the song so you can meditate on them in the coming days. It's written by Tommy Walker. I will yet praise Him my great Redeemer I will yet stand up and give Him glory with my life He takes my darkness and He turns it into light I will yet praise Him my Lord my God I have a hope I have a future I have a destiny that is yet awaiting me My life's not over a new beginning's just begun I have a hope I have this hope Goodness and mercy they will follow me And I'll forever dwell in the house of my great King No eye has ever seen all He's preparing there for me Though trials may come I have this hope There's still hope for me today For the God of Heaven loves meSee you Sunday!
