Enjoying the Journey
BACK TO BLOG
Hey thanks for visiting my blog. Often times when I am preparing a sermon an idea comes to me that I want to unpack a little more. Hopefully, this blog will allow me the place to do that. Then again, maybe I’ll just talk about my kids. I’ll try to update it once a month..

Can I Get A Witness?
September 10, 2008
Imagine if God told you to share Christ with someone. I mean He literally showed up in a dream and gave you a person and said, “Tomorrow at 5:00pm you will cross paths with a guy in a blue shirt, wire rimmed glasses, cargo shorts and a Nike hat . I want you to tell him about Jesus.” Then at 5:00, just like magic, the guy shows up. Would you do it? I bet you would. I bet you would step out in faith and say to the guy, “I know this sounds crazy but God told me in a dream to talk to you about Jesus.”
Of course you’d do it. You’d be blown away. God told you specifically to do something and then it happened.
Now imagine the opposite. Imagine God told you, “Whatever you do, don’t talk to the guy with the Nike hat. Don’t go near him.” Why would God do that? Why would He tell you not to share your faith with someone?
That’s exactly what happened to the disciples. Jesus said, “Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans.”
Ummmm, excuse me? I thought Jesus loved everyone. Why would Jesus say something like that? I’m not supposed to talk to certain people? Has Jesus ever heard of “diversity?” Is Jesus racist, a bigot or insensitive?
This week we are going over Matthew 10:5-10 where Jesus is giving instructions to His disciples about their first missions trip. You can come and listen to the sermon if you want to but whatever you do, don’t tell anyone from Iceland about it….they're not allowed to hear.
It just sounds weird doesn’t it? Don’t worry, we’ll get it figured out. See you then.
